Monkey

Jack loves to climb. He is fearless when it comes to climbing. As you can see from the above photo, cribs do little to contain him anymore. At the playground we have to watch him closely because he'll clammer up anything he can get a foothold on. Fortunately, he's strong and pretty coordinated and we're relatively on the ball when it comes to preventing falls (knock on wood). Otherwise he might have to spend his life in a football helmet.

Striptese

Growing up I always heard a story about my grandmother fearing that I'd never get to go to school because I could not keep my clothes on. If there is a gene for the desire run around unclothed Sadie's got it. Sadie finds clothes to be an absolute drag, and spends much of her time lately trying to figure how to get out of them.

Key West

We're back from Key West. Sadie and Jack survived traveling with only one parent, and I survived traveling with the two of them. We had a great time in Key West, despite some cold weather. We made the best of it by having lots of playtime with Grammy and Pappy (Dad likes to alternate his grandparent name with each visit). Jack and Sadie loved Grammy and Pappy's house. There was endless fun to be had with doors, stairs, and phones - none of which are play items at home. I can see that the kids are going to come to love traveling to Key West as they get older and can enjoy exploring the island. As long as there continues to be Key Lime Pie on a Stick I'll enjoy the island too!

Indoor Playgrounds

We are experiencing an El Nino year of rain this winter in LA. There is lots and lots of rain. As a result we've been making use of the many indoor playgrounds in the area. When we were in Maine last summer I stopped another mom on the street on a rainy afternoon and asked her if there were any indoor playgrounds in the area. She looked at me like I was crazy. I guess indoor playgrounds don't exist everywhere. Fortunately they are mighty plentiful in LA.

I try not to go too often because they are a bit pricey, but I treated the kids a few weeks ago on a rainy morning. Sadie and Jack both LOVED the bounce house (pictured above in Sadie's photo). Jack also a ton of time pretending to pilot an airplane. He can't resist steering wheels.

We're off to Florida to see my dad and Ima tomorrow, so the blog will be dark for a bit. We should have pictures up from sunny Key West towards the end of next week!
